The no on-press priming arm is a factual characteristic rather than a flaw – for my use cases, I prime separately with a hand tool anyway, so it’s irrelevant. If you’re loading cast bullets for subsonic purposes, seating feel matters more than most reloaders realize. 3. Small-Batch Revolver Loads

I’m not claiming the Challenger III is the optimal press for revolver loading. The T-7 with a turret configured for 38/357 is faster and more ergonomic for larger batches. But for small focused sessions where I want to load 50 rounds, try a new bullet, and then sit with a cup of coffee and see how they grouped – the Challenger III is the better tool for that mood.

I don’t full-length size 308 Winchester or 30-06 Springfield hunting brass on this press – not for consistent results across a batch. Can the Challenger III handle 308 Winchester? For bullet seating and crimp operations: yes, cleanly. The Lee Challenger III isn’t the press I’d build a loading bench around for serious volume work across demanding calibers. That’s not what it’s trying to be.
