What to Buy with It

Additional shell plates. One per caliber. For 38 Special/357 Magnum and 9mm Luger, you’ll need two different shell plate numbers.

Additional turret heads. Buy at minimum one extra turret per additional caliber you plan to load regularly. Pre-configured turrets are the feature that makes the Load-Master genuinely fast for multi-caliber work.

Primer tube filler. The Frankford Arsenal Vibra-Prime for safe, consistent tube loading. At 400+ rounds per hour production, primer tube refills happen frequently – the Vibra-Prime makes that manageable without increasing primer handling.

Hand priming tool backup. For setup verification and for sessions where the primer feed is causing persistent problems, having the RCBS Universal Hand Priming Tool or Lee Auto Bench Priming Tool available lets you prime the batch separately and continue production without the feed system as the bottleneck.

Case lube. Mandatory for 223 Remington, 308 Winchester, and 30-06 Springfield and all other bottleneck rifle cases. Not needed for pistol carbide dies.


FAQ

Is the Load-Master good for beginners? With caveats. The manual indexing mode is genuinely useful for learning the five-station sequence at your own pace – that part is beginner-appropriate. The primer feed system’s sensitivity to dirty brass and the complex five-station setup are less forgiving for beginners than simpler presses. For a true beginner who wants to learn progressive reloading without frustration, the Lee Classic Turret is a more forgiving starting point. Can it load 30-06 Springfield and similar magnum rifle calibers? Yes. The chrome-plated oversized ram is one of the engineering choices that makes 30-06 Springfield and comparable rifle calibers feasible on the Load-Master. Cases longer than the auto-advance range require manual advancement, which means you’re operating the press more like a turret press for those calibers – advancing one station at a time manually rather than relying on the auto-index mechanism.

Why does the Load-Master use the Auto-Disk instead of the Auto-Drum from the Pro 4000? Lee’s product engineering decision, not a manufacturing oversight. The Load-Master was developed with the Auto-Disk and hasn’t been updated to the Auto-Drum across all versions. What’s the most reliable way to handle the primer feed system?
